Palestinian-American writer Naomi Shihab Nye grew up in Ferguson, Mo. and lived in Jerusalem before moving to San Antonio, Texas. Chancellor Emeritus of the Academy of American Poets in New York City, Nye’s most recent book is Voices in the Air – Poems for Listeners (Greenwillow Books, HarperCollins) Her work has been posted at the Central Park Zoo and on a trash can at Times Square.
