The poem “Return” by Kathy Engel captures the connection between human and the other animals with which we share the world. I chose this poem because it describes how I’ve always felt: Earth is interconnected. Even insects have a place in our lives. I love the vivid imagery of the human body and I felt as if I could hear the calling of the animals as I read the poem. This intimacy between people and creature is not only physical but spiritual. I truly believe paying more attention to nature can help “repair the soul”.
